View from the choir

I am a Catholic layperson and Secular Franciscan with a sense of humor. After years in the back pew watching, I have moved into the choir. It's nice to see faces instead of the backs of heads. But I still maintain God has a sense of humor - and that we are created in God's image.

Poster boys?

Joe the Plumber

Bill the Bomber

With which campaign is each one linked?

Nobody really cares about Joe the Plumber. I'm more interested in McCain's connection to G. Gordon the Plumber... and Augustin the Dictator and Roberto (d'Aubussan) the mass murderer (literally, if shooting up a mass and offing a cardinal counts).

Ok, I see your Wright, Odinga and Ayres (didn't you use him before... and not sure Wright counts as a "terrorist" for incorrect preachering... or Odinga for having gone up against a repressive one-party state... or Ayres for things that happened when Obama was all of 8 years old, but even so...), I'll see your bet and raise you a Saddam Hussein:

Wright was the racist, not a terrorist. Through his followers, Odinga's connected with massacres - including the burning down of a church full of women and children.

Ayers - okay, I did use him twice - but as for the 8 year old thing, they were "associates" when Obama was an adult, and Ayers was making public statements about not regretting the bombings but did regret that he did not do more, and republishing some of his incindiery writings (Gee, I guess Obama didn't notice, the same way he didn't notice what Wright was saying in the 20 years Obama was sitting in the pews). Anyway, substitute Ayers' wife, Dohrn, former FBI most wanted.

And I see you Rashid Khalidi (PLO) and raise you Frank Davis.

Frank Davis? Isn't that a joker? Nobody takes old ex-commies seriously. Can I throw in Sarah Palin and her secessionist ties? And, at a stretch, I could bring up JM's membership in the "World Anti-Communist League" which is a pretty nasty bunch of racists and fascists (the real kind, you know... marching around in support of Francisco Franco and Benito Mussolini).

Davis - who dabbled in pornography an kinky sex in addition to being a poet and journalist with allegations of communist ties - was a friend of the family. Obama writes about Grandpa, Davis and he hanging out making up dirty limericks.

There are also some nude pictures of a teen who is allegedly Obama's mother taken by Davis (who in an autobigraphical porn novel wrote about an affair with a teen girl called "Ann" - Obama mamma's middle name!). Some right-wing types even allege that Davis was Obama's dad!!

I discount most of the salacious stuff, but Obama clearly had ties to Davis and spoke about him and his influence positively.

Palin did not have seccessionist ties - that what shown to be a false report; Todd briefly did, but she was a Republican.

Of course, Obama had New Party (a Socialist party) ties. (did I mention he used to hang out with a guy with communist ties when he was young?)

By the way, my Mexican amigo, I'm not necessarily supporting McCain and may not vote for him, and I don't feel a need to defend his connections.

In New York - a solid Obama state - my vote doesn't matter anyway.

Among the Republicans, I supported Huckabee. And on the Democratic side, I liked Richardson. You gotta admire a politician with a beard!
