View from the choir
I am a Catholic layperson and Secular Franciscan with a sense of humor. After years in the back pew watching, I have moved into the choir. It's nice to see faces instead of the backs of heads. But I still maintain God has a sense of humor - and that we are created in God's image.

We can only hope and pray that the Lord will purify him before Judgement Day and that will happen here on earth before he dies or whatever other way the Lord deems necessary to purify his soul. I wouldn't wish Hell on anyone -- not even Mr. Hefner -- who is one of the most despicable characters imaginable.
I agree. It would be wonderful if his soul was purified.
But I'll be honest - that would give me a Prodigal Son moment.
Here's this guy who enjoyed all of life's "pleasures" - wealth, houses, cars, fine clothes, partying, sex with thousands of beautiful women, every whim fulfilled, for decades, then suddenly, he reforms at perhaps the last minute, and is forgiven, and ends up in heaven.
Meanwhile, I, like the older brother, worked and struggled, and battled with doubt and sins of the flesh for decades, and we end up in the same place.
Petty, I know.
I'd be happy for you, brother Hugh.
Grrr.
