View from the choir

I am a Catholic layperson and Secular Franciscan with a sense of humor. After years in the back pew watching, I have moved into the choir. It's nice to see faces instead of the backs of heads. But I still maintain God has a sense of humor - and that we are created in God's image.

Archbishop Dolan - Rooting for the Mets!

Archbishop Dolan, a rabid baseball fan, announced that although a Cardinal's fan in his youth, and a transplanted Milwaukee fan for the past few years, as Archbishop of New York he would be a Yankees fan.
Grinding and gnashing of teeth.

But tonight, the Archbishop showed up on television at the Mets/Milwaukeee game wearing a Mets cap (hooray!), and announcing that as Archbishop of New York he would root for the Mets ...

... oh, and the Yankees too.

I'm not a big fan of his but congratulations to Gary Sheffield on his 500th Home Run. May you hit many more for the Mets.

Dr. K - He said he would also root for the Yankees. Sigh. I'm hoping time in New York will show him the error of his ways.

But he'll probably root for the New Jersey Giants and the New Jersey Jets, too.

By the way, Bishop Clark is a Yankee fan.
