View from the choir

I am a Catholic layperson and Secular Franciscan with a sense of humor. After years in the back pew watching, I have moved into the choir. It's nice to see faces instead of the backs of heads. But I still maintain God has a sense of humor - and that we are created in God's image.

Good stuff. Great poetry. I'm not so sure it's Hugh Hefner, but their is a real soul sickness in the world. A demeaning of the value of human life might be a good way to describe it. I guess Hugh could be a good metaphor, but there could be other names as well.Peace.

Its certainly a good start to a Litany. If you wanted to expand it a bit, you could try setting it to the same tune as the Litany of the Saints :)

But you didn't here it from me and I am not here!

Great minds think alike, Dunmouse.

I've actually been practicing the litany using the chant for the Litany of Saints. I'm varying it, though, so the refrain comes only after the "verses" and not individual lines to help increase the weight of all the horrors.

Paula and Don - I chose Hefner as a symbol. He's not the worst, nor the first, but he did help to bring pornography into the mainstream through his magazine and his television show.

He is in the popular culture the "face" of porn - in his pajamas and robe, surrounded by semi-clad women, looking cool, with a smile on his face because he's just done or is about to do you-know-what. The playboy that so many boy/men aspire to be.

I pray for him.
