View from the choir

I am a Catholic layperson and Secular Franciscan with a sense of humor. After years in the back pew watching, I have moved into the choir. It's nice to see faces instead of the backs of heads. But I still maintain God has a sense of humor - and that we are created in God's image.

What do they mean by "choice"?

The Father of Lies is skillful at manipulating language. He takes what is good, and twists it into something dark and evil.

Take the word "choice."

Choice means the act of choosing, the power right, or liberty to choose. It means one has options and alternatives.

Choice has positive connotations. Americans appreciate choice.

But the forces trying to legalize abortion years ago co-opted the word. The used it to create a bright and glossy veneer to something that is dark and foul: Abortion.

But Abortion is what they really mean when they say choice.
Abortion is about lack of choices. It's about having not being presented with options. It's about feeling trapped, not free.

It's about killing the helpless and innocent.

It's about being ensnared by the Lord of Lies.

So pro-choicers consider: What do you really mean by choice?

Fear?

Death?

Social Pressure?

Ignorance?

Infanticide?
